Removing the fruit from a mango can be quite messy. Use our pictorial guide here to help you and your pupils learn how to do this quickly and safely.

1. First get a clean chopping board and a sharp vegetable knife.  Cut off the mango 'cheeks' at either side of the flat centre stone.

2. Take the centre section and remove the peel. The slice in the centre around the stone can be removed and any flesh cut up.

3. Score the flesh in a diamond pattern, do not cut through the skin.

4. Turn the skin inside out to make a mango ‘hedgehog’. Remove the cubes carefully with a knife or spoon

For fruit salads or where you need smaller pieces of fruit make the cuts closer together.
